P3 Discuss The Issues Affecting Project Management

A project can be affected in a number of ways for instance changing factors, monitoring, communication, legal, corrective action and finally conflict. Below you will see how I have expanded on the majority of these ways in which a project can be affected.

Legal:

Legalities that have been imposed here by the UK government are a key type of issue that can affect a project manager when they have been nominated to overlook a project. One example of an legal issue that could occur is if the project manager of a Birthday Party which may be taking place in a public facility such as a local hall or a community centre it is imperative that if the organiser of the birthday party being the project manager decides to play music from a international R&B superstar such as Rihanna within the local hall or the community centre that these two types of public facilities have a license with the PPL otherwise known as Phonographic Performance Limited and the PRS who are otherwise known as the Performing Rights Society.

Monitoring:

In order to monitor a project you will need to meet the following requirements these are an exact goal, small milestones, good communication and finally regular updates. When overlooking a bigger project it can prove to be very difficult to make small milestones, for example the chairman of the FA or the football association named Greg Dyke stated that England should win the 2022 World Cup, this is impossible for him to predict that this will happen because there could be some players from the England football team that could have some injuries to their body which means there may be less players taking part in the match against their opponents and this can have a significant impact on the England football team winning the match against their opponents in the 2022 World Cup, so technically this means that Greg Dyke’s prediction of the England National Football Team winning the 2022 World Cup could be incorrect or his prediction would just be seen to be a lucky guess.

Guidelines:

A project manager would need to ensure that they meet the guidelines for the project they are managing. for example if we were building a new home or renovating an existing home we might face the following situations.

A. Building a new Eco-House that is energy efficient and uses solar powered panels and window insulation. this can benefit significantly because you do not have to pay the 20% VAT. A house building project may cost £200,000 the VAT saving is £40,000 as well as the reduced bills in the future.

B. Renovation of a old house if we need to use traditional materials we will be expected to pay the full 20% VAT. Equally if we find specific animals such as the great crested newt will prevent any building works from taking place.

From this we can gather that it is always beneficial to know the rules and take advantage of laws when managing projects.
